# About the Audit Log

The

audit log

tracks every action taken in your Eon account, helping you maintain security, meet compliance requirements, and understand how your team uses Eon.
Each audit log entry records who performed an action, what they did, when they did it, and the outcome.

## What the audit log tracks

The audit log captures actions performed by users in your Eon account, including:

* **Resource management**: Creating, updating, or deleting source accounts, restore accounts, vaults, backup policies, and other resources.

* **Access control**: Changes to roles, permissions, users, API credentials, and identity provider groups.

* **Data operations**: Triggering backups and restores, updating resource classifications, and managing exclusions.

* **Authentication**: User login events.

* **Configuration changes**: Updates to backup posture controls, notification policies, and account settings.

* **Data access**: Viewing cost data and exporting the audit log.

Each audit log entry includes:

* The user who performed the action.

* The action type (create, update, delete, read, authentication, export, or trigger).

* The specific operation performed.

* The timestamp and outcome (HTTP status code).

* The source IP address and role used.

* The API endpoint accessed.
