# Manage Object Filters

This article explains how to configure object filters to control which objects are backed up.

## Configure object filters

Configure object filters to control which objects are backed up based on the object prefix and modification date.
You can apply filters to a single bucket by providing the name, or to all buckets per cloud provider by entering `*` in place of the bucket name.

Eon supports up to one filter per cloud provider per unique bucket name, and up to one all-buckets filter (using `*`) per cloud provider.

To configure object filters, go to the

Object filters

page and click **Add Filter**.
The **Create filter** panel opens.

#### Choose the cloud provider

If you have both AWS and GCS source accounts connected, you'll see **S3** and **Google Cloud Storage** tabs.
Choose the tab for the bucket type you want to target with the filter.

#### Choose the bucket targeted by the filter

In **Bucket name**, enter a specific bucket name for an exact match, or enter `*` to apply the filter to all buckets.

#### Set the filter type

Select whether to include or exclude objects:

* **Include**: Include only objects that meet the conditions specified in the filter.
  All other objects are excluded from backup.

* **Exclude**: Exclude objects that meet the conditions specified in the filter.
  All other objects are included in backup.

The fields in the next step change based on your selection.

#### Configure filter conditions

The available fields depend on whether you selected **Include** or **Exclude**:

* If you selected **Include**:

  1. **Include objects with prefix**: Specify an object prefix to filter which objects are included in backup.
  2. **Include objects modified after**: Use the date picker to select a date. Only objects modified after this date are included in backup.

* If you selected **Exclude**:

  1. **Exclude objects with prefix**: Specify an object prefix to filter which objects are excluded from backup.
  2. **Exclude objects modified before**: Use the date picker to select a date. Only objects modified before this date are excluded from backup.

> **Note**
>
> If two filters conflict with each other, the more specific prefix takes precedence.

#### Save

Click **Create Filter**.

The filter is saved and will be applied to all future backup jobs.
