# MongoDB Atlas: Configure Private Endpoints

This article explains how to configure a private endpoint between a MongoDB Atlas project and Eon.
A private endpoint keeps all traffic between Eon and your Atlas cluster on the AWS private network, so your database is never exposed to the public internet.
The procedure differs depending on whether you're configuring a private endpoint for a source project or a restore project.
