# Azure Storage Accounts: Restore a File Share (Classic)

This article explains how to restore an Azure file share (classic) from Azure Backup recovery points.

File shares (classic) are backed up using Azure Recovery Services vaults.
When you restore a file share, Eon triggers the restore operation in Azure and monitors its progress.
You can restore the full file share or select individual files and folders.

## Restore a file share (classic)

#### Before you start

Before you restore a file share (classic), make sure:

[restore account has been connected]: /data-protection/restoring/restore-accounts/about-restore-accounts

* A [restore account has been connected] to your Eon account.

* The Azure restore subscription contains a storage account with a file share to restore to.
For alternate-location restores, the target file share must already exist—Azure doesn't create it automatically.

#### Find the recovery point you want to restore

1. In your

   inventory

, select the Azure storage account that contains the file share you want to restore.
   The **Resource details** panel opens.

2. Click the **Eon snapshots** tab.
You'll see a list of recovery points available from the Azure Recovery Services Vault.

3. When you find the recovery point you want to restore, click **Restore**.
The **Restore Azure File Share** wizard opens.

#### Choose the restore account

In the **Restore Azure File Share** wizard, choose **Original location**.

#### Monitor the restore job

Eon triggers the restore operation in Azure and polls for completion.
You can see your list of restore jobs on the

Restore jobs tab

in the Jobs page.

After the job is completed, the status changes to **SUCCESS**, and you can access the restored data in the target file share.
