## New: Hold and remove hold on snapshots

Two new snapshot management methods allow you to control snapshot retention by placing or removing holds on snapshots:

* [Hold Snapshot]: Prevents a snapshot from being deleted until the hold is removed.

* [Remove Snapshot Hold]: Removes an existing hold, allowing the snapshot to be subject to normal retention policies.

When a snapshot has an active hold, the `onHold` property is set to `true` in snapshot responses from [Get Snapshot] and [List Resource Snapshots].

## Updated: Restore DynamoDB tables to existing tables

The restore jobs API now supports a new restore type `AWS_DYNAMO_DB_TABLE_TO_EXISTING_TABLE_RESTORE`, allowing you to restore DynamoDB table snapshots directly to existing tables.
This restore type is available in:

* [List Restore Jobs]: Use the new restore type in `filters.restoreType.in` or `filters.restoreType.notIn` to filter jobs, and view it in the `jobs.restoreType` response property.

* [Get Restore Job]: The `job.restoreType` response now includes the new restore type.
