New: MongoDB Atlas backup and restore
MongoDB Atlas is now a supported cloud provider across the API. New values are available in requests and responses where applicable:
-
MONGO_ATLAScloud provider in source accounts, restore accounts, vaults, resources, backup policies, backup jobs, restore jobs, roles, and cost data. -
ATLAS_MONGODB_CLUSTERresource type in resources, snapshots, backup jobs, restore jobs, backup policies, and roles. -
ATLAS_MONGODB_CLUSTER_BACKUPandATLAS_MONGODB_CLUSTER_BACKUP_FULLbackup types in List Backup Jobs and Get Backup Job. -
ATLAS_CLUSTER_RESTOREandATLAS_CLUSTER_RECORD_RESTORErestore types in List Restore Jobs and Get Restore Job. -
MONGO_ATLAS_CLUSTER_METERING_DIMENSIONmetering dimension in Query Cost Data.
New: Volume backup exclusion methods
Two new methods let you control which EBS volumes on an EC2 instance are backed up:
-
Exclude Volume from Backup: Excludes a specific EBS volume from being backed up. Root volumes can’t be excluded.
-
Cancel Volume Backup Exclusion: Removes the exclusion and restores the volume to the instance’s backup scope.
New: Source account retrieval and update
Two new methods give you per-account access to source accounts:
-
Get Source Account: Retrieves a single source account by ID.
-
Update Source Account: Updates the configuration of a source account.
New: Restore account update and deletion
Two new methods give you full lifecycle control over restore accounts:
-
Update Restore Account: Updates the configuration of a restore account.
-
Delete Restore Account: Permanently removes a restore account.
Updated: Pagination for backup policy list
List Backup Policies now supports pagination through new optional pageSize and pageToken query parameters.
Updated: Top-n filter in cost data queries
Query Cost Data now accepts an optional topN request property that limits the response to the top n resources by total cost over the requested time frame, folding the remaining resources into one aggregated record per period.
Use this to build top-spender charts efficiently when grouping by RESOURCE or RESOURCE_AND_VAULT.
Updated: Cross-cloud cost metering dimensions
Query Cost Data adds metering dimensions for cross-cloud backup and restore scenarios, covering vaults that store data from a different cloud than the source:
-
AWS to GCP:
AWS_EC2_TO_GCP_VAULT_METERING_DIMENSION,AWS_EKS_TO_GCP_VAULT_METERING_DIMENSION,AWS_S3_TO_GCP_VAULT_METERING_DIMENSION. -
Azure to GCP:
AZURE_STORAGE_ACCOUNT_TO_GCP_VAULT_METERING_DIMENSION,AZURE_VIRTUAL_MACHINE_TO_GCP_VAULT_METERING_DIMENSION. -
GCP to AWS:
GCP_CLOUD_STORAGE_TO_AWS_VAULT_METERING_DIMENSION,GCP_VM_INSTANCE_TO_AWS_VAULT_METERING_DIMENSION. -
GCP to Azure:
GCP_CLOUD_STORAGE_TO_AZURE_VAULT_METERING_DIMENSION,GCP_VM_INSTANCE_TO_AZURE_VAULT_METERING_DIMENSION.
Updated: Filters and sort properties for the resource list
List Resources adds new request options for filtering and ordering results:
-
A new optional
filters.cloudProviderproperty filters resources by source cloud provider. -
New sort properties are available:
clusterName,createdTime,dateDiscovered,globalClusterIdentifier, andresourceGroupName.
Updated: Password configuration for RDS restore
Restore RDS Instance now accepts an optional destination.awsRds.passwordConfig property.
Use it to choose between managing the master password through AWS Secrets Manager and setting a customer-managed password on the restored database.
Updated: GCP Cloud SQL restore destination accepts a null value
Restore GCP Cloud SQL now accepts a null value for the destination.gcpCloudSql request property.
Updated: Restore destination limits on roles and restore accounts
You can now limit the restore destinations that a role’s members can use, and check whether a given restore account is permitted by those limits:
-
A new optional
restoreDestinationLimitsproperty is available in Create Role and Update Role, and is returned in Get Role and List Roles. -
Restore account responses now include a required
isRestoreAllowedproperty that indicates whether the current role’s restore destination limits permit restoring to the account. The property is available in Connect Restore Account, List Restore Accounts, Disconnect Restore Account, and Reconnect Restore Account.
Updated: Cloud operation failure error code
Backup and restore job responses now include CLOUD_OPERATION_FAILED as a possible jobExecutionDetails.errorCode value, indicating that the operation failed at the cloud-provider level.
The new value is available in List Backup Jobs, Get Backup Job, List Restore Jobs, and Get Restore Job.
Removed: NATIVE_STANDARD backup policy type
NATIVE_STANDARD is no longer a valid backupPlan.backupPolicyType value.
This value was published in error in the March 29, 2026 changelog and was never supported by the API.
