API credentials allow you to authenticate your custom code with Eon so you can use the Eon API. Each set of API credentials must be assigned a role, which grants the permissions needed to perform tasks in Eon.

A set of API credentials contains two properties: The client ID and client secret. Think of these like a username and password. With these credentials, your custom code can authenticate with Eon and retrieve a temporary access token. You’ll then pass the access token in the Authorization header of subsequent API requests.

For more information on the Eon API, see the Eon API overview.
