Troubleshooting Queries
This article helps you resolve errors you might run into when querying your database snapshots. If the troubleshooting steps in this article don’t resolve the issue, contact Eon Support.
Table not found
Error message: A table in your query isn't in the database. Check for possible typos and try again.
When you get this error, the SQL query specifies a table that doesn’t exist in the database being queried.
Make sure you’re querying the right database
If the snapshot contains multiple databases, you may be querying the wrong one. Check the Querying database list and make sure the selected database is the one you want to query.
Check the query for typos
The Error details show the problematic table name. Make sure the table name is spelled correctly in the query. You can confirm the table name using the database explorer on the left side of the page.
Column not found
Error message: A column in your query wasn't found in the specified table. Check for possible typos and try again.
When you get this error, the SQL query specifies a column that doesn’t exist in the relevant table.
Make sure you’re querying the right database
If the snapshot contains multiple databases, you may be querying the wrong one. Check the Querying database list and make sure the selected database is the one you want to query.
Check the query for typos
The Error details show the line and position in the SQL query where the problematic table name is (for example, line 3:18).
Check the column name at that position, and make sure it’s spelled correctly.
You can confirm table and column names using the database explorer on the left side of the page.
Insufficient restore bucket permissions
Error message: There was a problem extracting the data to the bucket. Make sure the snapshot and destination bucket are in the same region and that Eon has write access to the bucket.
When querying snapshots, Eon needs to restore data to a bucket in the restore account. The bucket needs to be in the same region as the snapshot and have a bucket policy that grants write access to Eon. Typically, when you receive this error, it’s because one of these conditions isn’t met.
Make sure the snapshot and destination bucket are in the same region
Make sure the bucket is in the same region as the snapshot you’re querying. If the bucket is in a different region, you’ll need to create a bucket in the correct region and try the query again.
SQL syntax error
Error message: There's a syntax error in the SQL query. Check for possible typos and try again.
When you get this error, the SQL query contains a syntax error. Eon uses Athena SQL to query snapshots in Amazon S3 vaults. See the Athena SQL docs for reference.
