Hold Snapshots

Who can use this feature

Anyone with these permissions: Take, convert, and hold snapshots

This article explains how to hold snapshots to store them indefinitely.

When you hold a snapshot, it’s protected from removal after its retention period passes. You can remove the hold at any time to allow the snapshot to expire based on its original retention period.

Hold a snapshot

Find the snapshot

  1. In your inventory, select the resource.
  2. Click the Eon snapshots tab.
  3. Click a day on the calendar.
  4. Click the snapshot you want to hold.

Hold the snapshot

Click (Actions) > Hold snapshot.

The icon is shown on the calendar day and next to the snapshot. The snapshot is retained indefinitely until you remove the hold.

Remove a hold

Find the held snapshot

  1. In your inventory, select the resource.
  2. Click the Eon snapshots tab.
  3. Click the day with the icon.
  4. Click the held snapshot.

Remove the hold

Click (Actions) > Remove hold. If the retention period has passed, confirm the removal when prompted.

The hold is removed and the original expiration time takes effect. If the retention period has already passed, the snapshot is marked for removal.
