About Dashboards
Dashboards give you a visual overview of your backups, costs, and compliance on the Dashboard page of the Eon console. Eon provides a built-in dashboard, Eon overview, and you can build your own with the Eon AI Assistant, the chat assistant built into the console. Dashboards read your data and never write to it, so building, viewing, and sharing one leave your resources, policies, and backups unchanged.
You describe a dashboard to AI Assistant once. You can then check recurring questions, such as how much you spend on backup storage or which resources are unprotected, on one page of Eon data. Use a dashboard for questions you check regularly. For a single question, ask AI Assistant in chat, as Work with AI Assistant describes.
This article explains what you can use a dashboard for, what data it shows you, and who can see it, so you can decide whether to build one.
What you can use a dashboard for
You describe a question in plain language, and AI Assistant builds the panels that answer it. A panel is one chart, table, or value on a dashboard.
You can combine these types of information on one dashboard, so a single page can cover your backup health, your spend, and your compliance posture together.
Chart types
You can show your data as a line chart, bar chart, pie chart, table, or single stat value.
Role-based data access
Each user can view only the data their permissions allow, based on their role and the data access controls applied to that role. This is true for every dashboard, including one the user owns. As a result, the same dashboard can show different data to different users. For example, if the data access controls on a role cover only some of the account’s resources, the panels show data for only those resources, and the numbers differ from those of a user with broader access. A panel shows an error instead of data when the user’s role can’t read the data behind it.
Dashboard visibility
A new dashboard is private to you. When you share a dashboard, users in your Eon account with permissions to view dashboards can see it. Only the owner can edit, share, or delete a dashboard, including when another user has permissions to manage dashboards. To change a dashboard’s visibility, see Edit dashboard visibility.
