GCP: Connect Source Projects

Who can use this feature

Anyone with these permissions: Manage source connections

This article explains how to connect GCP projects to Eon. You can connect as many source projects as you need.

Connect a source project

You’ll start this procedure in the Source accounts > GCP projects page by clicking New Connection and selecting GCP.

Before you start

Before you connect your source account, make sure:

  • gcloud CLI is installed and you can log in to the relevant GCP project under an identity that can manage IAM roles and service accounts.

  • You understand the permissions Eon needs to back up your resources. See GCP: Permissions Deployment Files for details.

Deploy

Choose whether you want to deploy with the CLI or with Terraform:

  • gcloud CLI: Run the provided command with gcloud CLI to install the roles.

  • Terraform: Use the provided Terraform module to install the roles.

  1. Select the gcloud CLI deployment method.

  2. Paste your GCP Project ID. The command you’ll need to run is displayed, including your GCP project ID and Eon-provided project IDs.

  3. Paste the provided command in a terminal and run. The command downloads and runs a script that installs the necessary roles using gcloud CLI. You can review the script before running it.

Wait for the script to complete before continuing.

Confirm

Return to the Eon console and click I’m Done. Eon checks that the necessary roles are installed in the project and, if successful, adds the project to the GCP projects list.

Eon now has read access to your GCP project and can start discovering resources.
