With a Microsoft Entra ID backup policy, you back up your directory on a schedule you choose, and there’s nothing to select inside the tenant.

This article explains what a Microsoft Entra ID backup policy covers and how its schedule works.

A Microsoft Entra ID backup policy protects one Microsoft Entra ID source tenant. A tenant can be assigned to only one Microsoft Entra ID backup policy at a time.

Directory scope

Each job captures the whole directory as one snapshot, covering every user and group, along with the tenant’s roles, role assignments, and licenses.

Schedule

When you create the policy, you choose the frequency, the start time, the retention period, and the vault to store snapshots in. The schedule options are the same as for a Standard backup policy, described in Backup schedules. Snapshots are stored in a vault in Azure.

For configuration steps, see Create Microsoft Entra ID Backup Policies. For what data Eon backs up and restores, see Microsoft Entra ID Support.
